Changes with this release ---------------------------------- 1. OVERVIEW ---------------------------------- The v2.7 release delivers 15 changes to the Outpost application suite covering new features, enhancements, and low priority defects. It updates some Outpost programs and some data files and can be applied either as a new installation for new users or as an update for existing users. ---------------------------------- 2. WHO SHOULD INSTALL Outpost v2.7 ---------------------------------- This release adds new features and minor enhancements that you may be of interest as well as resolves some problems found since the initial v2.7 release. **If you are a PacFORMS user, you should also install the latest Public version of PacFORMS. ---------------------------------- 3. INSTALLATION NOTES ---------------------------------- This document includes instructions for installing Outpost off of the web, or downloading and running the install program locally, as well as support for building install floppies. NEW USER / FIRST-TIME INSTALLATION ---------------------------------- If you never installed Outpost before, proceed as follows: 1. Download the opsetup270ixx.exe program from the Outpost website. "xx" is the latest release of this installation file. 2. Run the install program and, when prompted, select "First time installation for new users". All Options should be checked. This is a full install that includes all program files, documentation, sample scripts, sample reports, and sample configuration files (TncInfo.dat, BbsInfo.dat). 3. When done, run Outpost. Check out the HOW-TO pages on the Outpost website or the users guide that will be loaded into your Docs data directory (From Outpost, Actions > View Outpost data directories). 4. YOU ARE DONE! Enjoy Outpost! EXISTING USER / UPDATE INSTALLATION ------------------------------------ !!! READ ALL INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS PRIOR TO STARTING THIS PROCESS. This installation process will update your existing Outpost 2.6 version with the v2.7 release. It will also move data from the current (OLD) data directory to a NEW user-specific data directory. For Windows XP... OLD: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Outpost\ NEW: C:\Documents and Settings\\Application Data\Outpost\ For Windows Vista, 7, 8... OLD: C:\ProgramData\Outpost\ NEW: C:\Users\\AppData\Roaming\Outpost\ 1. Ensure Outpost is not running. 2. Download the opsetup270ixx.exe program from the Outpost website. "xx" is the latest release of this installation file. 3. Run the install program and select "Update for existing users." This install option is for existing users with configurations that they want to preserve. Only the program files and documentation are installed. You may optionally choose to install the sample files (scripts, reports) if not previously downloaded. WARNING!!! DO NOT SELECT the Sample Configuration Files option if you are a current Outpost user... this will overwrite your existing TNC and BBS configuration files (TncInfo.dat and BbsInfo.dat). You will get a pop-up warning if this is attempted. 4. For Windows VISTA, Windows 7, and Windows 8 users, find the Outpost PPM icon on your desktop. Right-click on it, select Properties, then choose the Compatibility Tab. - In the Compatibility Mode area, uncheck "Run this program... " if set - In the Privilege Level area, uncheck "Run this program... " if set Press Apply, then OK 5. Run Outpost as usual. 6. Once Outpost is runing with all your previous configruations, open Windows Explorer and navigate to the old Outpost v2.6 data (see description above). Delete the old Outpost data directory. 7. The installation process is complete. ----------------------------- 4. UPDATES IN v2.7.0c021 ----------------------------- ER#951: Resolves Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8 access permissions errors ER#1012: Adds AN option to turn off KISS and Host Mode in Ipserial.exe ER#1015: resolves Error 380 if there are were no address book records ER#1016: resolves JNOS error where the 1st message lines included the strings From: or To:, ER#1017: Add Selectable Profiles ER#1018: Add Font change to Outpost new and open messages. ER#1019: Default Comm Port Setting RTS/DTS to On ER#1022: Delivers an up and down arrow on the message forms that allow you to move to the next or previous message without closing it. ER#1025: Adds a Forgetful PC option that pops up a time check to let the user know what the PC time is. This is needed to ensure accurate timestamping for and reporting of messages. ER#1028: Corrects placement of Profile name on Station ID form for better viewing. ER#1029: Opdirect, handle IE9 requesting a favicon file. ER#1030: Opdirect, resolved TCP error on IE9 server interaction. ER#1031: Opdirect, Adjusts message writeback tuning to PacFORMs. ER#1032: Followup on #951; correctly handles data directory if Outpost.conf does not exist. ER#1033: Handles JNOS area check when the area does not exist.
